About 100years ago, in 189, there was a farmer called Stephen Laver. Mr Laver decided to make a new fence around his land. He made some deep holes in the ground. In one of the holes he found some strange things. They were pieces of old pots. He showed them to the school teacher in Glastonbury.
The teacher wrote a letter to Dr Bulleid, a famous archaeologist.
She told him about the post. He was very interested and he decided to go to Glastonbury. When he saw the post and the other pieces he was very excited. He was sure that they were over 3,000 years old.
In 1908, Dr Bulleid started digging in Mr Lavers field. After a short time he discovered many more post, iron tools, and bronze pots and jewellery . Then one morning, he found the most exiting thing: a boat that was 3,000 years old.
Dr bulleid was right; 3,000 years ago there was a village in Glastonbury. The village, where people lived on the water and went fishing.
